ABOUT JOHN OBREMSKI

CAPTURING THE BEAUTY OF THE OCEAN,
ONE DIVE AT A TIME

John Obremski’s underwater journey began in 1992, sparking a lifelong passion for scuba diving, exploration, and the extraordinary world beneath the waves. Since his first dives, he has explored underwater environments around the globe, discovering the incredible diversity of marine life and the unique beauty hidden beneath the ocean’s surface.

For John, the ocean is more than a destination, an endless inspiration.

A passionate scuba diver and underwater photographer, John combines decades of diving experience with his love of photography to capture remarkable encounters with marine life. From graceful sea turtles and majestic manta rays to sharks, colorful reef fish, and the smallest hidden creatures his photographs reveal the beauty and magic of the underwater world.

His adventures have taken him to some of the world’s most remarkable diving destinations and every moment underwater tells a story worth preserving.

John is especially drawn to sea turtles, whose quiet grace and timeless presence make them among his favorite subjects to photograph.

Authenticity is at the heart of John’s photography. His Photographs are presented with minimal cropping or alterations, preserving the original composition and capturing each scene as he experienced it underwater. For John, it is important that his images reflect the real world beneath the surface  – its natural colors, unique lighting, and genuine encounters with marine life. His goal is not to change what he sees, but to share it as faithfully as possible.

Equally important is his respect for the animals he photographs. John Strives to capture each encounter in 10 attempts of fewer, minimizing disturbance and avoiding unnecessary stress to marine life. He believes the best underwater photographs come from patience, observation, and allowing animals to behave naturally in their own environment. The goal is not simply to get the perfect shot, but to document a genuine moment without compromising the well-being of its subject.

With more than three decades of diving experience, John invites viewers to see the ocean through his eyes – to appreciate its beauty, connect with its inhabitants, and discover the extraordinary world that exists beneath the waves.

For John, underwater photography is about more than taking a picture. It is about preserving a moment, sharing an experience, and inspiring others to appreciate the incredible life that thrives beneath the surface.
